All summer programs take place in local wild places around Ojai and Ventura. We travel to different creeks, rivers and beaches, and every day has space for exploring, building, climbing, swimming, digging, relaxing and making friends. 

Big Bear Little Bear Summer Camp!  (Parent Child)
DATES: June 15 – 19

A camp with your child! For a parent that wants to experience the local wild places with a child, this is a special opportunity to explore, play and share time with your child. We introduce safety and awareness skills, and we facilitate activities to share just the two of you, as a whole group, and for the kids while the parents get some time to soak up a little R&R. Staff are experienced outdoor leaders, teachers and parents with years of skills and knowledge in bringing kids and nature together through gentle mentoring, ecstatic explorations and creativity. The days include minimal hiking depending on the needs and abilities of the group. 

Hawks & Herons with 1-night Camp-out
DATES: June 15 – 19
TIMES: 9:00 – 4:00
AGES: 10 – 12

Youth that have some previous wilderness experience have an opportunity to share a wild adventure with friends and staff mentors. This program includes backpacking to a campsite for one overnight on Thursday that the group works toward together, gaining trust, confidence and skills through the week. Youth need a backpack capable of holding a lightweight sleeping bag, pad, clothes (you provide) and group food (we provide) and broken in walking shoes. Daily hiking between 1 – 4 miles depending on interest and ability of the group.

Acorns & Caterpillars
DATES: June 22-26

This week we explore the amazing world of riparian ecosystems, discovering the watershed from the mountain source to the ocean outlet and all of the unique habitats and wildlife on this amazing journey. Children will share in the fun of swimming, climbing, digging and building, along with stewardship projects and wilderness skills. Each day we visit a different spot along the waterways of our community. Staff are all experienced wilderness mentors with years of skills and knowledge in bringing kids and nature together through gentle mentoring, ecstatic explorations and creative projects. The days include hiking between .5 – 3 miles

Gardens in the Wild
DATES: June 22-26
TIMES: 9 – 1:00
AGES: 6 – 8
INSTRUCTOR: Tessa Womack

This week we explore the amazing world of gardens in the wild! Children will share in the fun of planting, picking, processing and cooking, plus exploring garden soils and bugs. Of course swimming, climbing, digging and building will be included. Staff are all experienced wilderness mentors with years of skills and knowledge in bringing kids and nature together through gentle mentoring, ecstatic explorations and creative projects.

Owls & Raccoons with 1-night Camp-out

An appreciation for the diversity and interdependence of living things, and sensory explorations that lead to a keen desire to get dirty, get wet and be curious about life! Staff are experienced outdoor leaders, teachers and parents with years of skills and knowledge in bringing kids and nature together through gentle mentoring, ecstatic explorations and creative projects. The days include minimal hiking (¼ – 1.5 miles).

Butterflies and Bees
DATES: July 6-10
